Seattle Mariners | Depth Chart | Projected Payroll

  • Mallex Smith, OF: Acquired from Rays.
  • Jake Fraley, OF: Acquired from Rays.

Tampa Bay Rays  Depth Chart | Projected Payroll

  • Mike Zunino, C: Acquired from Mariners.
  • Guillermo Heredia, OF: Acquired from Mariners.
  • Michael Plassmeyer, SP: Acquired from Mariners.

ROSTER IMPACT

Zunino will likely get 120-125 starts behind the plate and close to 500 plate appearances. Rookie Michael Perez is currently projected as his backup.

Heredia should be a great fit as the Rays’ fourth outfielder, complementing lefty batters Kevin Kiermaier and Austin Meadows.

Smith is penciled in as the Mariners’ starting center fielder and potential leadoff man after posting a .367 OBP with 40 stolen bases in ’18. The move also indicates that Dee Gordon will play 2B and Robinson Cano will likely move over to first base.  It’s still early, though, and GM Jerry Dipoto is expected to be busy reshaping his roster over the next few months.
