A nine-game evening card is featured on FanDuel Saturday night with the highlighted $125,000 Grand Slam.
Serious Major League Baseball DFSers may also consider a five-game early format, with the $30,000 Grand Slam.
For starters, we’ll highlight the top starters regardless of price, as Oakland’s Sonny Gray is likely the top early tab. Oakland is a -150 favorite with a game total of 7. That makes the struggling Mariners the likely team to fade.
One offense to focus in on during the day games should be the Chicago White Sox. The Sox are considerable -175 favorites against visiting Minnesota with a game total of just over 8 1/2. That should mean close to six runs for the hosts.
On the late card, James Shields (pictured) of San Diego goes up against the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner in another pitcher’s duel at Petco Park. Picking one over the other is the difficult choice, as base runners could be at a premium once again. The Giants were the slightest of favorites overnight.
The Angels’ Jared Weaver is also expected to have a successful night, according to oddsmakers, as he was a -160 favorite over Kansas City with a game total at just under 7 1/2.
At night, the prime bats are likely in Colorado, as usual. The Rockies’ Justin Morneau is 5-for-11 – all doubles – against Cubs’ starter Jason Hammel, along with four walks. Also, Colorado’s Drew Stubbs has a 5-for-17 BvP in this matchups with two homers, but seven strikeouts.
The Yankees and Red Sox played deep into the night last night, then had to come back for the early start today. Needless to say, we will probably not be interested in rostering any players from this game, and the starting pitchers were never a consideration.
Texas’ Yovani Gallardo is our under-owned punt at pitcher, if that is your fancy. The Rangers are favored at -140, but the total was a modestly high 8 1/2.
