Thursday’s resourceful recommendations…
Zach LaVine – He could be a play if Ricky Rubio is out. Rubio had a poor game on Wednesday and with it being a back-to-back, he could be held. Follow the injury report late and if Rubio is out, it might be time to go back to Zach.
Kevin Martin – KevMart is a decent option after his hot performance on Wed. against TOR. That should increase his ownership, however, which would take our interest away. Check on the status of teammate Gary Neal, who missed Wednesday’s game and was listed as questionable for tonight’s game on the overnight injury report. His absence spells a bump for Martin.
Chase Budinger – Bud could be our sneaky play after a couple of nice outings back-to-back, including last time out on Wed. Two games ago, he had 29 FP, while last night he had another solid game with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists. That is something we can back over at DK, and could get the call over Exum at 3.2k. NYK is not solid defensively, so you can’t get a much better surprise value tonight than this. He might be the only true tournament punt, and may even be a safe bet to get 18-20 FP at a bargain price.
Langston Galloway – The Knicks’ G is coming off a nice game and MIN allows the most points in the league. Teammate Schved will be highly owned, so we like Gallo as a contrarian move. Langston is 4.8k at DK, so he is the better value at FD (only $200 more).
Tyreke Evans – He could excel in this game since Suns are 25th against opposing PGs. The list of useful PGs is slim on Thursday so getting Evans into your lineup is not a bad option in this critical game for the Pels.
Omer Asik – The New Orleans C has had 31 or more FP in his last 3 games, all double-doubles, so this looks like a nice value price tonight. His salary has risen over the last week at DK from 4.5k to 5.5k, but he is still a good value when options are limited on the night. Nurkic of DEN was the other consideration, but he is unreliable.
Brandan Wright – He is a much better value a DK, although probably not the best for use at FD, where it would be at least a minimal consideration, but only if you are choosing Asik and need to work something in. Alex Len was listed as questionable on the overnight injury report with a bum ankle, which gives Wright all those minutes.
Dante Exum – The Utah PG had a horrible game on Wed., but should bounce back against the porous LAL defense. Exum had 18 FP in five-straight games before that effort. He nearly air-balled last night, but he is definitely still a target on DK at 3.2k. He is a starting PG against the awful, dead-last Lakers’ defense at that position. Exum is key to putting together a top-loaded lineup, so his best contribution is necessary. Combined with Budinger, this move could give you plenty of cap space elsewhere.
Rodney Hood – Hood goes up against the Lakers and is a great value at FD at 4.6k since he is the same price at both sites. He had five threes in the game before last and should receive the necessary minutes as a starter.
Derrick Favors – Favors has been a bit of a let down this week but is still considered a nice value at FD for 7.7k, while he is 8.1k at DK. He had 16-and-9 in a bounce-back against against the Wizards last night, putting up 32.3 FP. And did we say, he is facing the Lakers, who are well-below-average against PFs?
Rudy Gobert – The rising Utah star C is becoming a major force and should be ready for another good performance after Wednesday night’s effort of 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss at home versus Washington. He gets used more on DK by fantasy players because of the position options, but he is a better value at FD at 8.2k, while he is 8.1k at DK. Lakers are 27th against opposing centers and the Stifel Tower has averaged over 20 rebounds over the last three games.
